In the wake of the recent hurricanes, thousands of individuals have lost access to food, water, and power, leaving many families in dire circumstances as they face the long road to recovery. An October 14 report from the Catholic Extension Society shared that in towns that were “already struggling,” the devastation has been profound. Many are turning to local Catholic churches for assistance.

The report shared that in Erwin, Tennessee, Father Charters has been a pillar of support for his parishioners and the broader community since the onset of heavy flooding caused by Hurricane Helene. …
