I’ve always had a preference to elevate Mother’s Day above the “other half,” but this year might be an exception to my rule. Fathers are important. A virtuous male parent who follows God’s design for marriage and parenting is the strength of the family, and the assurance of a strong nation. We must never allow Hollywood and worldly rulers to profane what God himself has ordained fathers to be. A mother is the glue that holds a family together; a father is the bulwark that shields and protects the family from all harm. Fulfilling these roles takes wisdom from above.

A godly father’s loving guidance and development will make all the difference in the world in producing offspring who will be like arrows shot at the diabolical one. This instruction should be the utmost goal of every father who claims to love his sons and daughters. The Psalmist wrote, “Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they shall not be ashamed but shall speak with their enemies in the gate” (Psalm 127:4). …
