WASHINGTON, DC – House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi attacked Republicans’ efforts to defund the abortion business Planned Parenthood on Tuesday by bringing up God and conscience.
Pelosi, a Democrat who claims to be Catholic, supports Planned Parenthood and abortion on demand, in opposition to the Catholic faith. When it is convenient, however, Pelosi brings up her faith in public when she wants to criticize her opponents or support her own political position.
On Tuesday, she mentioned honoring God and conscience in her reaction to Republicans’ plans to repeal and replace Obamacare and defund the abortion chain Planned Parenthood, the Free Beacon reports.
“I know my colleagues are people of faith,” Pelosi said. “They tell us that all the time. So, this is God’s creation, we have a real responsibility to it…to minister to the needs of God’s creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us…”
Pelosi also told Republican lawmakers to “examine their consciences and look into their hearts” before they vote so they can “make a decision in favor of what is right.”

But part of what Pelosi considers “right” is giving nearly half a billion tax dollars every year to a group that has destroyed millions of unborn babies’ lives in abortions.
… this condemnation on behalf of “God’s creation” comes from a woman who, as a professed Catholic, has amassed a 100 percent pro-abortion rating from both NARAL and Planned Parenthood. She has opposed virtually every conceivable limitation on abortion over her political career, including measures to ban the barbaric procedure known as partial-birth abortion. Read up on the grisly details of what that entails, then circle back to this lecture from Nance about faith, conscience examination, moral responsibility, and honoring God. What a joke …
Just last week, a reporter confronted Pelosi about the contradiction between her stance on abortion and her faith, and the U.S. House leader dodged the question. When the CNS News reporter asked Pelosi if aborting an unborn baby with a beating heart dishonors God, Pelosi appeared flustered and then gave a non-answer.
The U.S. Senate delayed a vote Tuesday on the defunding bill because of a few holdout Republicans who made it so there are not enough votes to pass it. The U.S. House passed a defunding bill in May.
Planned Parenthood’s most recent annual report shows increases in abortions and taxpayer funding, and decreases in contraception, breast exams and overall patient numbers.
Planned Parenthood continued to maintain its status as the largest abortion provider in the United States. The abortion group performed 328,348 abortions on unborn babies, 4,349 more than the previous year, according to the report. Meanwhile, the abortion chain received more taxpayer funding. The report shows Planned Parenthood receiving $554.6 million, up from $553.7 million the previous year.
