This week we learned that the Archdiocese of New York was being OPPOSED BY ITS OWN INSURANCE COMPANY because of its ongoing cover-up of the sexual abuse of minors.

Later this week, Bishop Ronald Hicks of the diocese of Joliet will be installed as Archbishop of New York, replacing Timothy Dolan. Hicks is a protegee of Cardinal Blase Cupich, having acted as Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Chicago before being elevated to Bishop of Joliet. A recent column highlights the influence Cupich has had in U.S. bishop appointments.

Several weeks ago, we exposed a huge scandal in the diocese of Joliet. Bishop Hicks’ diocesan Chancellor quietly left his post to be ‘married’ to another man and Hicks’ Vicar General actually attended the ‘wedding’. We explained to our readers why this was a serious scandal and why Bishop Hicks needed to fire his Vicar General. A quick poll on social media showed that 92% of respondents said Hicks needed to come clean and make a public statement regarding this scandal. What has been Hicks’ response? Crickets.
