Washington, DC – Deep in our souls we grieve over the senseless and horrific tragedy that took place this week at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. Two young schoolchildren were killed and 15 others were wounded by an individual who was clearly in need of major spiritual and psychiatric help. We add our prayers for the many victims and their families who are suffering such uncomprehensible loss.

We are grateful to the first responders and medical professionals whose bravery, compassion, and unwavering dedication brought comfort and care to the injured children and to the entire affected community.

One story that particularly resonates for me is the remarkable story of the young boy. He recounted how his friend used his own body to shield him when the bullets started flying. This young boy literally had his friend’s back, quickly throwing himself over his friend’s body as he was shot in the back. …
