Fr. Joseph Illo explains why Star of the Sea in San Francisco will restore the ancient practice of the priest facing God together with the congregation at our parish. Our parish is in good company: Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity in San Francisco, and the Carmelites at Christo Rey across the street from USF, have already revived this beautiful liturgical posture, and the Orthodox Christians down the street from us have never abandoned the practice. Cardinal Sarah from Guinea, the prefect for the Congregation for Divine Worship, suggested that parishes revive this practice. Come join us this Lent as our parish family faces God in the Sacrifice of the Mass together!
