Let’s storm Heaven with prayer for our president and his team. I really can’t fathom what it’s like to be on the front lines of the spiritual warfare currently raging in Washington, D.C. I had a tiny taste of it kneeling on hot New York City sidewalks outside abortion clinics when I was young: that alien presence, which I’ve only felt at such desolate places and on the occasions I’ve met really rabid antisemites. I was brushed by fallen angels’ icy wings, which fan hatred for babies and Jews because their enemy, Jesus, was once a baby Jew.
The principalities and powers that possess our body politic are thrashing around and screaming. The talking heads all spin. Just as a demon will whipsaw an exorcist between plausible death threats and cloying appeals for pity, our elites will code-switch at the drop of a mic from calls for bloodcurdling violence and mocking the disabled to burbling in baby voices about “protecting the most vulnerable.” They’re throwing everything at the wall to see what will stick or explode. ….
