A video of Vice President Kamala Harris declaring that “everybody needs to be woke” in 2017 has resurfaced and gone viral on social media.

“We have to stay woke. Like everybody needs to be woke,” Harris, the presumptive 2024 Democrat presidential candidate, said at the 2017 Recode Code Conference while speaking with philanthropist Laurene Powell Jobs.

Harris went on to try to conjugate “woke” while saying that more wokeness is better than less:

“And you can talk about if you’re the wokest or woker, but just stay more woke than less woke.”
