Catholics must get involved

Just before Our Lord ascended into Heaven, He told his listeners, “Go forth and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all that I have ever commanded you.”

Although it was given to a few at the time, His final command is binding on all baptized souls until the end of the world. All Catholics have the mandate to bring the gospel to the world, especially lay Catholics.

In his 1975 apostolic exhortation Evangelii Nuntiandi, Pope Paul VI reinforced Christ’s commandment, declaring, “The presentation of the gospel message is not an optional contribution to the Church.” ….
