News of the laicization (defrocking) of Father Frank Pavone has generated many questions. I thought it would be helpful to share my perspective on this matter and provide an avenue where you can get additional information.

First, I want to express my deep appreciation to the Catholic Church for laying a firm foundation back in the 1970s for a then-fledgling pro-life movement. When I got involved in 1975, I was the token non-Catholic in my local Montana Right to Life chapter. We owe a huge debt to the Church and the Knights of Columbus for the incredible work they did during our early efforts to defeat Roe v. Wade and end abortion. …
