Bishop Joseph E. Strickland: (Yes, We Have) An Emergency in the Church

By Bishop Joseph E. Strickland, Pillars of Faith - In every age, the Church is called to love sinners while never blessing sin. Authentic charity calls every soul to repentance, chastity, holiness, and conversion through Jesus Christ. True pastoral care does not affirm souls in patterns of behavior that separate them from God. A shepherd who sees danger and remains silent is not merciful... While these reports obscured any identifying details about patients, they supplied vital public health information utilized to keep tabs on statewide trends. ...

The World Isn’t Your Friend, by Casey Chalk

By Casey Chalk, Crisis Magazine - I confess that I sometimes allow myself to be deceived. When things are going well professionally, when election results go the way I hoped, when I seem to be getting along with everyone I know—I can be disarmed into thinking that I am at peace with the world. Then, like a thunderclap, I’m jolted back to the truth of the matter: the world is not my friend.
