Midnight update: Hurricane Ida has weakened to a Category 1 hurricane.

As of midnight, it is located about two miles east of Livingston, Louisiana and 30 miles east of Baton Rouge.

It has maximum sustained winds of 85 mph, making it a Category 1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale.

A tropical storm becomes a Category 1 hurricane at 74 mph.

10 p.m. update: Hurricane Ida is continuing to move across southeast Louisiana as a Category 2 storm, slowly weakening since its initial arrival on the coast of southeast Louisiana. …
