The Office of Population Affairs (OPA) saw roughly 30 employees issued reduction-in-force (RIF) notices Oct. 10, effectively sidelining most of the agency’s staff, individuals familiar with the matter told the Daily Caller News Foundation. The cuts come as White House officials repeatedly warned that staffing reductions could occur if Democrats continue to refuse to reopen the government.

By Elise Winland, Catholic Vote - Kehoe rejected the criticism, saying his pro-life position remains unshaken... “I’ve said forever that I’m a defender of innocent life,” the governor said, according to the outlet. “Those young babies that have never had the chance to make any decisions that unfortunately become the victim of abortions, I’ll always stick up for that life as long as I’m in this office and anywhere else. I think that’s much different than somebody who murdered in cold blood a law enforcement officer, a hero in our state.”

President Trump announced the creation of a new optional fertility insurance benefit that will allow employers to offer a range of fertility care services alongside longstanding medical, dental, and vision benefits. Certainly, this is a welcome opportunity for all employers, and especially for the Church and its apostolates, to enhance their healthcare coverage by offering new or expanded coverage for ethical fertility care, including treatments like NaProTechnology that address and resolve underlying causes of infertility. Unfortunately, the White House is also promoting unethical and unjust IVF procedures as a part of its fertility initiative.

Kennedy even warned Thursday that the low birth rate poses “a national security threat.”... “When my uncle was president, the fertility rate in this country was 3.5%,” he said. “Today it is 1.6%. The replacement rate—in other words, the amount of fertility that you need in order to keep your population even—is 2.1%. We are below replacement right now. That is a national security threat to our country.”... But while IVF, or in vitro fertilization, gets much of the attention for solutions for infertility, it’s not the only option.
