Judge Blocks School Board From Removing Explicit Books, Saying It’s Unconstitutional to Follow ‘Conservative Values’, by Tyler O’Neil

By Tyler O'Neil, The Daily Signal - Julian Ellis, the school district’s attorney, told The Daily Signal that the district had asked Sweeney to hold an evidentiary hearing so she could review the books herself, yet the judge refused. The board had included segments from the books in its filings, aiming to demonstrate the vulgar and inappropriate material, but the judge dismissed those... Instead, the judge ruled that “the district’s decisive factor in voting to permanently banish the removed books was because the district disagreed with the views expressed in the books and to further their preferred political orthodoxy.”

DOJ Opens Investigation Into Washington Law Targeting Catholic Confession, by Elise DeGeeter

By Elise DeGeeter - The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Monday it launched a civil rights investigation into a new Washington state law that would force Catholic priests to report child abuse, even when disclosed during the sacrament of confession... The law, SB 5375, signed May 2 by Democratic Gov. Bob Ferguson, is set to take effect July 27. It adds clergy to the list of professionals legally required to report suspected abuse, explicitly eliminating legal protections for the confessional seal.

Exclusive: See The ‘Airtight’ Methodology Showing 11% Of Pill Abortions Cause Maternal Injury, by Jordan Boyd

By Jordan Boyd, The Federalist - The most comprehensive U.S. study of the abortion pill excluded tens of thousands of insurance claims from its analysis of mifepristone-linked complications to ensure it did not exaggerate the harms the abortion drug could inflict on women... The exclusion of those data points further legitimizes findings that 10.9 percent of women suffered sepsis, infection, hemorrhaging, or other serious complications within 45 days of a chemical abortion.

The Terrible Duty of US Bishops to Condemn Anti-Arab Prejudice, by Jason Jones

By Jason Jones, Crisis Magazine - Jesus Christ made a point of associating Himself most intimately with the “least of these brethren”—the vulnerable people who are most undervalued... It is jarring to read the recent letters Palestinian Christian leaders have sent directly to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) pleading with them to stand in solidarity with the suffering Church in Gaza and the West Bank... “Homes, churches, and hospitals have been destroyed,” they wrote in a letter just this month.
