With standby statements that deflect, dismiss, and dodge, they’ve turned a sensitive issue into a full-blown mess. Alienating the flock and showcasing a bishop who’d rather pass the buck than lead? That’s not crisis management—that’s crisis creation. The tone-deafness is jaw-dropping, and it begs the question: if this is the scrubbed-up public face, how bad must the reality be behind closed doors? Maybe next time, they’ll skip the PR script and try something radical—like actual compassion and charity. ....

Pope Appoints Archbishop Paglia’s Right-Hand Man as President of Pontifical Academy for Life, by Edward Pentin

By Edward Pentin, National Catholic Register - Dr. Ward, a former member of the academy, said after the 2022 appointments that the leadership of the academy was continuing the “enforcement of a paradigm shift on sexual morality in the Vatican.”... Judie Brown, also a former academy member, and current president of the American Life League, called the appointments an “outrage” that were “made worse when we recognize that the Academy was established to fight against abortion.” The principles held by the Academy’s first members “were once the bedrock upon which we all stood,” she said, but have now “disappeared from view.”
