A Death Blow to Globalism? Trump’s UN Speech Sets Up a U.S. Pivot, by Ben Whedon

By Ben Whedon, Just the News - Pres. Donald Trump’s Tuesday speech to the UN General Assembly saw him excoriate the international body as ineffective and forecast Washington putting more distance between itself and the UN... Trump accused the UN of leaving the job of peacekeeping to him, highlighting the many global conflicts that he resolved in the first seven months of his presidency... “I ended seven wars, dealt with the leaders of each and every one of these countries, and never even received a phone call from the United Nations offering to help in finalizing the deal,” he lamented. “These are the two things I got from the United Nations: a bad escalator and a bad teleprompter.”

On Dignity and Dependence, by Francis X. Maier

By Francis X. Maier, The Catholic Thing - MacIntyre appears in the bibliography of Leah Libresco Sargeant’s new book, The Dignity of Dependence.  He’s referenced by name in the final pages.  And for good reason:  He’s a key resource among the many Sargeant uses to advance what she describes as a new “feminist manifesto.”  That word “feminist” is not a slam-dunk positive for this reviewer.  As a husband and father, I’m old enough to remember, in detail, the 1970s.  That includes the subsequent course of mainstream, secular feminism and the wreckage it too often wrought.

By Greg Schlueter, Crisis Magazine - Tucker Carlson, speaking at the memorial, pressed the point that the answer to our crisis is not ultimately political but spiritual. Laws may restrain, but only repentance transforms. The true work begins within: acknowledging sin, seeking forgiveness, and then extending it to others. What Charlie lived for, Carlson reminded us, was this deeper revolution of the soul—a renewal that politics cannot manufacture but upon which any just order depends... What does this mean for America? It means we must have the courage to face our disorders honestly, not to enshrine them. To forgive as we have been forgiven. To cultivate virtue not as Victorian relic but as civic lifeblood.

Daily Scripture Readings and Meditations: Jesus Gave Them Authority over All Demons and Diseases

Author Don Schwager, Servants of the Word - Luke 9:1-6 - 1 And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, 2 and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal. 3 And he said to them, "Take nothing for your journey, no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money; and do not have two tunics. 4 And whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. ...
