I want to reflect on how direct contact with the good earth—the “first book” written by God—teaches us lessons that cannot be learned in school... To appreciate gardening as a form of catechesis, we must begin with a foundational Christian conviction, one not widely shared in today’s culture: the world we inhabit is not mere nature, but a divine gift that we refer to as creation.
