TOTALLY WOKE: Diocese of Lexington Launches Net-Zero Plan Inspired by Laudato Si’ (and the United Nations)

By Tessa Gervasini, National Catholic Register, (Complicit Clergy) - The Diocese of Lexington has developed an ambitious plan to make all of its buildings net-zero by 2030 because, it noted, as Scripture says: “The earth and all in it belongs to God.” The plan includes all buildings of the 59 parishes in the diocese, spanning over 50 counties in central and eastern Kentucky... The plan is a direct response to Pope Francis’ 2015 encyclical Laudato Si’  (“On Care for Our Common Home”), which called on the global Catholic Church to engage in dialogue about the future of the planet. Within the writings, Pope Francis urged the Church to acknowledge environmental challenges.

On the ethics of life: Leo XIV contradicts Benedict XVI, by Luisella Scrosati

By Luisella Scrosati, Daily Compass - In 2023, Prevost (Pope Leo XIV) embraced the 'coherent ethic of life' expressed by Cardinals Joseph Louis Bernardin (died 1996) and Blase Cupich, both of whom were archbishops of Chicago... An ethic that Prevost summarised as follows: ‘Abortion, war, poverty, euthanasia and capital punishment share a common identity: they are all based on the denial of the right to life’. To these threats against human life, he added ‘other issues, such as the effects of artificial intelligence, human trafficking and the rights of migrants’... In his speech, Prevost criticised the imbalance in the Catholic pro-life movement in the United States, which focuses primarily on fighting abortion and euthanasia at the expense of other important issues such as the death penalty and anti-immigrant policies. ...

EWTN: In Gaza and Israel, Fragile Peace Brings Hope and Heartache

News by National Catholic Register (EWTN) - Christians in Gaza are relieved by the ceasefire that took effect on Oct. 13 between Israel and Hamas, but they understand that hostilities could break out again at any time, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, told Vatican Radio in an Oct. 15 interview... “We are in daily contact with them. They keep writing that they still cannot believe they were able to sleep through the night without hearing the sound of bombs,” the patriarch said during a visit to Rome ...

When “Welcome” Collides With Caesar: Dilexi Te and the Missing Question, by John M. Grondelski

By John M. Grondelski, Crisis Magazine - In the end, Dilexi Te’s treatment of migration leaves Catholics with serious unanswered questions. The Church may and must remind believers of the moral dignity of every person. But she cannot call Catholics to actions that imply contempt for lawful authority, nor can she treat the existence of sovereign states as a regrettable accident of history. If Rome wishes to speak credibly about migration, it must do so in full awareness that the world of Abraham and Moses is not the world of passports, borders, and visas—and that Catholics, while bound by charity, are also citizens. Between God and Caesar, the Exhortation seems to have forgotten that both still have legitimate claims upon us.
