Daily Scripture Readings and Meditations: What God’s Kingdom Is Like

Author Don Schwager, Servants of the Word - Luke 13:18-21 - 18 He said therefore, "What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it? 19 It is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took and sowed in his garden; and it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air made nests in its branches." 20 And again he said, "To what shall I compare the kingdom of God? 21 It is like leaven which a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened."

Opinion: Pietro Parolin, The Diabolical. by Mike McCormick

By Mike McCormick,  Midnight in the Laptop of Good and Evil, Substack - Before tens of thousands of Nigerian Catholics were murdered, there was Parolin... Before millions of illegals immigrants—adults and children—were trafficked through Mexico, there was Parolin... Before the thousands of tons of cocaine and fentanyl were smuggled into the West from Venezuela, there was Parolin... And now that King Charles and Pope Leo have papered over 500 years of Freemason treachery with a meeting in the Vatican, there is Parolin... Please allow me to introduce this cardinal, he’s a man of wealth and taste. He’s been around for a long, long year, stole many a man’s soul and faith.

Saint of the Day for October 28: Sts. Simon and Jude (1st Century)

By Franciscan Media - Saints Simon and Jude’s Story - Jude is so named by Luke and Acts. Matthew and Mark call him Thaddeus. He is not mentioned elsewhere in the Gospels, except of course where all the apostles are mentioned. Scholars hold that he is not the author of the Letter of Jude. Actually, Jude had the same name as Judas Iscariot. Evidently because of the disgrace of that name, it was shortened to “Jude” in English.

Fr. Paul D. Scalia: The Thief of Joy

By Fr. Paul D. Scalia, The Catholic Thing - “Thank God I’m not like that Pharisee!” Now, if that’s your response to today’s Gospel (Luke 18:9-14), then you probably missed the point. Because there’s more than a bit of the Pharisee in each of us, and not enough of the tax collector. Our Lord presents the parable as two different men in the Temple of Jerusalem. But it might as well be two different men within each of us. They represent the battle between pride and humility that rages in our souls.
