Daily Scripture Readings and Meditations: Take Heart, Your Faith Has Made You Well

Author Don Schwager, Servants of the Word - Matthew 9:18-26 - 18 While he was thus speaking to them, behold, a ruler came in and knelt before him, saying, "My daughter has just died; but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live." 19 And Jesus rose and followed him, with his disciples. 20 And behold, a woman who had suffered from a hemorrhage for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment; 21 for she said to herself, "If I only touch his garment, I shall be made well." ...

Fr. David Howell: Christ’s Blood Has an Infinite Power to Cleanse Our Souls

By Fr. David Howell, Catholic Herald - In a particular way, priests are fountains of peace for others, since their bodies are borrowed by Jesus for his work. In the second reading, St Paul said, “I bear on my body the marks of Jesus” (Galatians 6:17), a mysterious grace that some have identified as the stigmata. But all priests experience something similar whenever they celebrate the sacraments: their bodies become instruments of Jesus’ body... So let’s “pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest” (Luke 10:2), for each new priest is a new channel of the blood of Christ.

The Frightening Dream House of Zoran Mamdani, by Victor Davis Hanson

By Victor Davis Hanson, American Greatness - Zoran Mamdani built his dream on radical chic—but now that he's winning, he's scrambling to bury the blueprint... After his first-place win in the New York City mayoral primaries, Zoran Mamdani is furiously denying everything that he once glibly thought was cutting-edge and cool... So, like a good postmodern relativist, Mamdani now claims he didn’t really mean that violence was merely a “construct.”... I suppose Mamdani asked Jewish New Yorkers—the target of 44 percent of all hate crimes in the city—and discovered that their concussions and blood were all too real.

Discerning the Movie “Independence Day,” 28 Years Later (and on things aging well), by Peter Wolfgang

By Peter Wolfgang, Catholic Culture - Was Independence Day softening us up for the War on Terror, the way other pop culture in the ‘90s softened us up for same-sex marriage? Was Top Gun: Maverick softening us up for Operation Midnight Hammer?... Again, I know it sounds crazy. But are pop culture psy-ops by our national security apparatus really that unfathomable? If the-powers-that-be did seed 1990s pop culture with the antecedents of the coming LGBT revolution, as The Public Discourse alleged in 2010, why would they not do it to us on other issues as well?
