Answer: because for all the talk, for all the pledges, for all the touted policies and programs, the Vatican has not adopted a “zero tolerance” mentality regarding abuse... Last week, when the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors held a conference on Safeguarding in the Catholic Church in Europe, Pope Francis send a strong message of support, citing the event as “a sign of the Church’s continuing efforts to protect the most vulnerable in our midst.”

Conduct the national investigation which my church’s bishops have so far dodged into 1) the systemic cover-up of clerical sex abuse and 2) the human trafficking conducted by church-controlled nonprofits of illegal immigrants... The DOJ should also investigate the role which the Vatican itself has played in encouraging the sex abuse coverup ....

It requires fixing the broken dating cultures that are delaying marriage formation and leaving men and women feeling resentful of each other. The vast majority of young adults want to get married, but more and more find it isn’t working out as they expect. As a result, half of America’s drop in fertility is explained by the drop in marriage formation.
