By Tom Gilson, The Stream - Late last month Ohio failed by one vote to enact a Heartbeat Bill, which would have prohibited abortion once a fetal heartbeat has become detectable. It had all the appearance of a close call, but it was in fact political theater for the sake of John Kasich’s next bid for president, says Ohio State Representative Jim Butler. But Kasich is gone now. The bill is likely to pass in 2019, and it could very likely contribute to an eventual Supreme Court challenge against Roe v. Wade.
