Charles Pope - The Gospel from last Saturday’s daily Mass (Saturday of the 2nd Week of Easter) describes troubles rising and demonstrates how to endure them: When it was evening, the disciples of Jesus went down to the sea, embarked in a boat, and went across the sea to Capernaum. It had already grown dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them. The sea was stirred up because a strong wind was blowing. When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they were afraid. But he said to them, “It is I. Do not be afraid.” They wanted to take him into the boat, but the boat immediately arrived at the shore to which they were heading (John 6:16-21).

Rather, Traditional Catholicism is defined by what Catholics believe, and how they view the Church and the world. Traditional Catholicism is exactly what it sounds like: Catholicism as traditionally practiced and understood throughout history... This is opposed to the Modernist, or Progressive Catholic, who sees the Second Vatican Council as a revolution that changed the Catholic Church into a new kind of religion that is superior to the old. Pope Benedict XVI referred to this mindset as the “Hermeneutic of Rupture.” In contrast, Benedict XVI referred to the Traditional Catholic mindset as the “Hermeneutic of Continuity.”

As we continue in this time of the Eucharistic Revival in the United States, we should be thankful for the legacy that Mother Angelica and the nuns have left to us — which has helped so many to find hope, healing, direction, consolation, conversion and joy in the discovery of the Real Presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Indeed, the PCPA’s fixed gaze on the monstrance has drawn many of us to gaze upon him, too.
