Know a Civilization by Whom It Honours, by Jonathon Van Maren

By Jonathon Van Maren, The European Conservative - The Sexual Revolution has become the new founding story for many Western democracies, and thus the pantheon of old heroes is being cleared to make room for the icons of our new age. The term “courage” is frequently applied to men who announce they are women, or come out of the closet, or live out their fetishes in public, just as it is applied to women who champion feticide and childlessness. Fr. Raymond J. de Souza: Spiritual Eclipse and the Darkness of Sin

By Father Raymond J. de Souza, National Catholic Register - The solar eclipse of April 8 is drawing enormous attention, some of it theological and liturgical, given its coincidence with the Solemnity of the Annunciation and its proximity to the Easter Octave. But there is also a spiritual lesson to be drawn, one that reflects our experience of the shadow of sin in our lives. The experience of sin, when properly apprehended, is one of darkness, even a sense of being lost, unable to see the light. Solemnity of the Annunciation: ‘The Angel of the Lord Declared Unto Mary’, by John Grondelski

By John Grondelski, EWTN News - Using our liturgical calendar, let’s put ourselves at the end of March in northern Israel more than 2,000 years ago. Living in Nazareth is a young woman named Mary. She was an observant Jewish girl raised by her parents, Joachim and Anne. She was perhaps in her teens (remember the lifespan of the times) and probably very poor. As regards the latter, so was Joseph, the man to whom she was engaged, even though — somewhere long ago — his family was part of the line of the great King David.

Fr. Gerald E. Murray: The Eclipse of God?

By Fr. Gerald E. Murray, The Human Life Review - Today the West lives as if God did not exist . . . This estrangement from God is not caused by reasoning but by a will to be detached from him. The atheistic orientation of a life is almost always a decision by the will. Man no longer wishes to reflect on his relationship to God because he himself intends to become God... Let the Divine Light be our guide. No eclipse can overcome God.
