And a journey unprecedented in Church history is coming to a close: the 6,500-mile National Eucharistic Pilgrimage, that culminated in Indianapolis for the Congress which ends today... On the Vigil of Pentecost, May 18, four small teams of pilgrims set out, respectively, from the Atlantic and Pacific, near the Canadian border and Mexican border, traveling with the Eucharistic Lord Jesus toward Indianapolis.

Bishop Strickland, as many readers are likely aware, was unceremoniously sacked in November 2023 by Pope Francis without any canonical trial or public explanation... While this action caused a veritable crisis for the faithful in the diocese of Tyler, Texas, it is emblematic of a larger dilemma within the Church. Many beloved shepherds are currently caught between a desire to defend orthodox doctrine and liturgy and a desire to avoid the harrowing fate of Bishop Strickland.

Now they return, eager to report their progress and the graces they encountered... As Jesus listens, He urges them (perhaps because they are so overjoyed) to come away and rest awhile, for they have labored long. In so doing, Jesus also teaches us about prayer. Let’s consider four teachings on prayer that are evident in today’s Gospel.
