Let’s say he adds: “It’s not hard, but you may not like it.” Perhaps it’s something like wearing a coat and tie to your interview, and you hate wearing a coat and tie. I’m with you on that, but if you really want the job, wouldn’t you make that little extra effort? Or would you complain? “Why should I wear a coat and tie? Coats and ties are stupid! If they want a coat and tie, the heck with them.”

Feminist sociologist Jesse Bernard warned in her 1972 book, The Future of Marriage, “[M]arriage introduced such profound discontinuities into the lives of women as to constitute genuine emotional health hazards.”... It is no wonder that only 32 percent of women believe marriage and motherhood lead to fuller, happier lives for them. And 47 percent of single young women believe singleness is a more direct route to happiness for women than being wed.

Some of the worst abuses in my own Catholic church saw popes and bishops deny whole cities the sacraments of marriage and even baptism over some papal land grab or squalid dynastic squabble... What do those hungry for power to bully their fellow citizens with now? The health of our bodies, the tenure we spend in this mortal coil. Instead of selling indulgences that supposedly speed our souls to Heaven, they press on us ever-newer medicines and untested vaccines ....
