This was done in an effort to safeguard national security after a federal judge blocked his May attempt to revoke Harvard’s ability to enroll foreign students... The Proclamation suspends the entry into the United States of any new Harvard student as a non-immigrant under F, M, or J visas, and it recommends the Secretary of State to consider the existing visas of the same classification for current Harvard students ....

These include recent state constitutional rulings interpreting abortion as a protected right; the passage of laws aimed at safeguarding unborn life; ongoing litigation challenging or defending those laws; and the implementation of so-called “shield laws.” These are laws designed to protect abortion providers who reside in abortion-friendly states who prescribe abortions pills in states where abortion is almost entirely proscribed.

That’s true not just for the liturgical calendar, but for our spiritual lives. Christmas marks Christ’s coming in the flesh, “for us and for our salvation.” Easter marks Christ’s triumph over sin and death — none of us must be damned unless we freely want to be. Pentecost marks Christ’s sending of his Spirit to enable his Church to carry on his work of salvation — of turning people from sin and to God — until he “comes again in glory to judge the living and the dead.”
