As they saw it, the Dominican priests hung together, even though they knew that two among their number were much in the wrong. And the bishop’s chargé d’affaires also provided cover, discouraging his superior from getting involved.

By Judie Brown, American Life League - The four words “Catholic bishops debate abortion” may sound like an oxymoron, but to me it is a clear sign that the devil’s foothold in the Catholic Church is must stronger than anyone could have imagined… It is beyond our comprehension that the full assembly of Catholic bishops actually had to vote between the following statement and the Cupich amendment that would have made the statement even weaker: “The threat of abortion remains our preeminent priority because it directly attacks life itself, because it takes place within the sanctuary of the family, and because of the number of lives destroyed. At the same time, we cannot dismiss or ignore other serious threats to human life and dignity such as racism, the environmental crisis, poverty and the death penalty.”

Williams, Ph.D.Breitbart - Chicago archbishop Blase Cupich has once again downplayed the centrality of abortion as moral and political issue, insisting it must be seen as just one element of “a consistent ethic of life.”… Recently, the cardinal faced off against leaders of the U.S. bishops conference who insisted that the faithful must understand that abortion is the “preeminent priority” when decided on whom to vote for. Having lost that battle, the cardinal wrote his own op-ed to keep pushing the idea that abortion is no worse than any other social issue.
