Chapman, CNS News - Given the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) reporting on the dangers of the abortion pill, which include 24 maternal deaths and at least 4,195 cases of adverse reactions, Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), and 18 other senators sent a letter to the FDA urging it to declare the drug an "imminent hazard to public health," and to remove it from the U.S. market.

By Trent Horn, Catholic Answers - Unfortunately, there are many people who call themselves Catholic and yet believe, for one reason or another, they can be “pro-choice,” or support legal abortion, without compromising their Catholic Faith. When I say someone is “pro-choice,” I don’t mean only that he has voted for a political candidate who happens to support keeping abortion legal. I mean that person is committed to the idea that legal abortion is necessary and that he votes for laws and politicians with the intention of keeping abortion legal.

And according to political analysts, the Republicans’ decision to highlight the life issue so prominently — in contrast to the absence of any reference to abortion during the DNC — reflects a GOP belief that emphasizing the issue will both mobilize its own political base of religious voters and draw in other voters who disagree with the Democratic Party’s unqualified support for abortion rights.
