Justice Clarence Thomas, SCOTUS, First Things - This case highlights the fact that abortion is an act rife with the potential for eugenic manipulation. From the beginning, birth control and abortion were promoted as means of effectuating eugenics. Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger was particularly open about the fact that birth control could be used for eugenic purposes. These arguments about the eugenic potential for birth control apply with even greater force to abortion, which can be used to target specific children with unwanted characteristics.

At a House Ways and Means Committee hearing May 16th Congressman Don Beyer (D-VA) claimed that the reported rate of maternal deaths in Texas doubled after funding cuts to Planned Parenthood.  Unfortunately, as The Washington Post pointed out, Congressman Beyer was relying on incorrect data.

However, they sidestepped a larger ruling on abortion by deciding not to weigh in on whether a child can be aborted for their race, sex, or disability… Justice Clarence Thomas wrote a concurring opinion, in which he addressed the pro-abortion movement’s well-known history with eugenics, and how the Court’s decision not to rule on the Indiana statute leaves an open question on whether eugenic abortions are protected by the Constitution… “So long as the Supreme Court forces a policy of unfettered elective abortion on the entire country, it ought to at least allow for states to protect babies from unjust discrimination,” he said.

That same sick passion drove her successors at Planned Parenthood in their fight for legal abortion.
