In the wake of the Duke election, Louisiana’s Catholic bishops embarked on a furious campaign to educate people on the evils of racism. That was probably warranted. Surely it’s time for America’s Catholic bishops to do the same for Latinos.

I tried, however, to shelter my young children and not allow them to learn about its gruesomeness too soon.
