The Catholic Church rightly proclaims that the path to true freedom and human flourishing is the Way of Jesus Christ. She also affirms that there is a dignity to all human work precisely because of the dignity of every human worker who is engaged in it — because that worker is created in the Image and Likeness of God. That dignity was elevated to even greater heights through the Incarnation of Jesus, the Worker of Nazareth.

By Msgr. Charles Pope - Prior to Pentecost, the Apostles and disciples gathered in fear, behind locked doors. Afterwards, though, they go about with the boldness described here. The religious leaders are “astonished” and marvel that such common and unlearned men can have such a sweeping command of their topic, and such serene courage. Peter and John have healed a man who had been lame for forty years, a man they knew was lame and had seen in the temple. The religious leaders cannot explain it; further, the usual threats do not seem to have the desired effect on them.

Christian Brugger, EWTN News - These reflections are probably a little late, since lockdown restrictions are easing around the country, but we may still find ourselves divided between “open-uppers” and “lock-downers.” Both have good reasons for their views, and neither denies the value of the other’s side. The open-uppers aren’t saying: “Who cares if more people catch the virus — who cares about a second wave!” And the lock-downers aren’t saying: “Quarantine fatigue is a fiction, so shut up and stay home!”
