The Sorgue and Rhône rivers continued to rise until they flooded the lower part of the city, making it one of the worst floods ever in that region. A group of Franciscan friars were worried that their small church would be destroyed.

At the beginning of our Lord’s public life, after the forty days’ fast, the devil tempted him, and the temptation was directed to Jesus in His role of Messiah. After this trial of strength, the devil left our Lord, but, as St. Luke says significantly, his departure was temporary: “He departed from him for a while” (4:13).
