By Catholic World Report Contributors - Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller: According to both the Jewish and Christian creeds, it is God Himself who, in His sovereign goodness, created the world out of nothing and ordered it in His eternal Word (logos, reason) and Spirit (power, wisdom). Human reason is finite and in principle – due to original sin – susceptible to disturbance by egoistic impulses, such as the disordered desire for power, money, self-indulgence / pleasure. Man is thus intellectually and morally fallible.
