It is something we do to earn money, so we can buy food and supplies, and support ourselves and family in this world. What’s more, it is a social activity. Because civilization requires an economy, our work is in fact a social service. We constantly give and take, each profession providing needs for a customer or another profession.

From start to finish, his latest “Letter to the People of God” is full of language we have seen before… It is devoid of practical considerations regarding the reform of clerical leadership worldwide, which many within and without the Church now universally recognise as necessary and urgent… The letter is, in a word, inadequate: like the statement from USCCB president Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, an exercise in misdirection, blame-shifting, and obfuscation.

The Cardinal has apologized publically to whistleblower Dominican Father Boniface Ramsey, and the adult victims of McCarrick, whose concerns were reflected in Father Ramsey’s letter.
