NBC News, by Staff - The Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington has filed for bankruptcy protection after years of financial losses from settlements paid to survivors of clergy sexual abuse... Vermont’s last remaining diocese joins 39 other U.S Catholic religious organizations that have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy which allows entities to continue normal operations while reorganizing finances... Reorganization “is in the best interests of the Diocese, its creditors, and all parties in interest,” the Burlington Diocese argued in an emergency motion filed alongside its bankruptcy petition on Sept. 30.

Although they laid down their lives for the Faith over a period of almost 150 years, the first being executed under Henry VIII in 1535 and the last under Charles II in 1679, very few of them are household names, even in England... Perhaps the only one who is widely known is Edmund Campion. In this sense, each of these martyrs deserves a place among the unsung heroes of Christendom.

Boquet, Human Life International - An article in The Atlantic a few days ago had quite the eye-catching headline: “The Anti-Abortion Activists Who Want to Stop People from Having Kids.”... Now, as someone who has worked in the pro-life movement for decades, I can’t say that I’ve ever come across activists who are especially interested in preventing couples from having children. However, a quick scan of the article revealed that, as you might expect, the headline is an egregious instance of biased editorializing. The article, as it turns out, was about the pro-life movement’s moral concerns with the practice of in vitro fertilization (IVF).
