By Dr. Peter Kreeeft, Integrated Catholic - Why do we all seem to have no time for anything, much less for prayer?... I am constantly feeling guilty about this, and I suspect most of you are too. I think the single biggest obstacle to our relationship with God (after sin, of course) is “no time.” If I gave my children as much time as I give God, I could be prosecuted for child neglect and abuse. If I spent as little time with my wife as I spend with God, she’d have grounds for divorce for desertion.
By Phil Lawler, Catholic Culture - In case you missed the announcement, despite Brexit the Catholic bishops of the United Kingdom will continue to participate in COMECE. COMECE, in case you’ve forgotten (or never knew) is the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union. So the bishops of the UK—which is not a member of the EU—will remain active in an umbrella organization for bishops of countries in the EU.
By Carl R. Trueman, First Things - When I reflect on Archbishop Chaput, three particular things stand out. The first is that he has taken consistently courageous and unpopular stands on matters of pressing concern. In Philadelphia, he was decried by the press, mainstream and LGBTQ, for his views on sexuality. The pope apparently spoke disparagingly of him as “ideological.” And the usual suspects in the Catholic press derided and sneered at him. His crime in each case? Taking seriously the catechetical teaching of his church.
