By Fr. Matthew Schneider, EWTN News - Recently, a citation from Walter Wink has been quoted with approval by two well-known Catholic priests, Franciscan Father Richard Rohr and Jesuit Father James Martin. This is problematic as this quotation argues that homosexual behavior is morally acceptable, that the Bible is wrong, and that the Church should no longer call it immoral. We need to love people who struggle with these temptations and even those involved in these actions, but we cannot deny the moral teaching of 2,000 years of Christianity.
By Jason Scott Jones, LifeSiteNews - This basic difference between the hierarchy and the laity has been completely forgotten as the USCCB has become hopelessly embroiled in countless prudential issues. The bishops need to take a strong, prophetic stand in the secular sphere on non-negotiable issues such as abortion, same-sex “marriage,” and the protection of our children’s innocence. The USCCB’s over focus on promoting leftist liberal causes does nothing but pit the faithful against each other, and weaken the Church’s defense of life and family. Beyond the non-negotiables, the bishops are just another group with an opinion.
By Fr. Regis Scanlon - Fifty years ago, if you told Catholics that “cardinals would oppose cardinals and bishops would oppose bishops” in the Catholic Church, few would believe it. Now (it) has come true. Bishops and cardinals questioning teachings held since the beginning of the Church. What’s even harder to believe, it was all predicted in two separate Marian apparitions. One is the famous Fatima apparition to the three shepherd children, Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta, in 1917 at Fatima, Portugal and the other an apparition to Sr. Agnes Sasagawa at Akita, Japan in 1973.
