By Jason Jones, John Zmirak, The Stream - During the crisis caused by the virus China unleashed on the world, we’ve seen some pro-lifers stumble. No doubt they’re eager to keep their vital cause relevant to current events. So they claim that there is a “pro-life” position on the lockdown… They embrace maximum restrictions on business, to “save every life” possible. That’s exactly how pro-infanticide New York Governor Mario Cuomo talks, too… Such people claim that those of us who fear government tyranny, and the hunger, chaos, and suicides linked to an economic depression are being “callous” or even “anti-life.”
By Fr. Paul D. Scalia, The Catholic Thing - Our Lord’s disciples have a curious reaction to His resurrection. It is a combination of hurry and hesitation, of racing and reluctance. The women go from the tomb quickly…fearful yet overjoyed. Something about their response is both swift and hesitant. Likewise, with Peter and John. They run to see the empty tomb, but still with some hesitancy. The passage ends with the curious statement that they did not yet understand the Scripture that he had to rise from the dead.
By Lauretta Brown, EWTN News - While the United States’ death toll in the coronavirus pandemic climbed to 53,625 Thursday, abortion groups and their political allies have urged the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to lift restrictions on mifepristone (Mifeprex), a drug used for chemical abortion… The FDA has restricted mifepristone under its “Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies” (REMS) drug-safety program since 2000, only permitting that it be prescribed by a certified health-care provider and dispensed in a clinic, hospital or medical office.
By Church Militant - On April 23, President Trump signed a common-sense measure temporarily restricting immigration into the United States for the next 60 days… It took the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) less than 24 hours to respond with their disdain: The President's action threatens to fuel polarization and animosity. While we welcome efforts to ensure that all Americans are recognized for the dignity of their work, the global crisis caused by COVID-19 demands unity and the creativity of love, not more division and the indifference of a throw-away mentality... Got that? Its okay to shutter every parish in the United States in the name of "safety" but don't you dare touch our immigration pipeline.
